ZURICH (AFP) - FIFA has extended its sponsorship deal with Visa until the 2022 World Cup, Sepp Blatter, president of world football s governing body, announced on Tuesday.
The deal, sealed five months before the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, secures Visa global marketing rights for the 2018 World Cup in Russia and the 2022 edition in Qatar.
Visa first became a FIFA partner in 2007 ahead of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Blatter, welcoming the deal, said: "We re delighted to have reached this agreement with our valued partner, Visa."
As well as the flagship World Cups, Visa will also have marketing rights to over 40 FIFA events scheduled to be held over the same period, including the women s World Cup and Under-20 World Cup.
No details were given on the financial terms of the contract.
Blatter added: "Visa s huge global network and engaging consumer programmes play a significant role in bringing the FIFA World Cup to all corners of the globe, and we re delighted to have such a strong global brand by our side until at least 2022."

Visa is the fourth of FIFA s top level commercial partners to have committed to both the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, following Adidas, Coca-Cola, Hyundai-Kia and Anheuser-Busch InBev.
Visa are also one of the major Olympic sponsors, with marketing rights at all the Games up to Tokyo in 2020.
