Dunya News

The ICC World Cup 2011 trophy was unveiled at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in Dhaka, in a ceremony that launched the official countdown to cricket's greatest show. Haroon Lorgat, chief executive of the International Cricket Council (ICC), handed the trophy to Sharad Pawar, chairman of the 2011 World Cup central organising committee and ICC vice-president. Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka cricket board presidents, as the three co-hosts, were present on the stage. Cricketers of the three national teams, local and foreign guests attended the ceremony. The biggest event of world cricket will kick-off in exactly 13 months and seven days, with the opening ceremony on February 17 2011 at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka. Dhaka will also host the opening match, at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on February 19, between Bangladesh and India. A total of eight matches, including two quarter finals, will be held in Bangladesh.
