BERLIN (AP) - The German football federation has chosen Munich s Allianz Arena as the country s proposed venue to host matches at the 2020 European Championship.
The federation s leadership on Friday chose Bayern Munich s 69,000-seat stadium over a rival bid from Berlin s 74,000-seat Olympic Stadium, which hosted the 2006 World Cup final.
Germany will bid for two packages, three group matches and a quarterfinal, or the two semifinals and the final.
The tournament will be contested in 13 stadiums in 13 countries, and UEFA s executive committee will choose the host cities in September 2014.
