HINTERTUX (AP) - Swiss skier Beat Feuz trained on snow for the first time in nine months on Wednesday after missing the entire past season with left knee problems.

Feuz says "the knee is OK. There are soft snow conditions here (on the glacier), which is good for me," adding he eyes a return to racing in Lake Louise, Alberta, in November.

The 26-year-old Feuz has won five World Cup races but underwent surgery in March last year, shortly after being edged for the overall World Cup title by Austria s Marcel Hirscher. Feuz decided last November to sit out the season following persistent inflammation and bleeding of the knee.

The new season, which includes the Sochi Olympics in February, will kick off with a giant slalom in Soelden, Austria, on Oct. 27.
