MONTREAL (AP) - Sebastian Vettel earned pole position for the Canadian Grand Prix for the third consecutive year on Saturday.

The Formula One points leader timed 1 minute, 25.425 seconds in the final qualifying session. It s his third pole of the year, and he will be looking for his third victory in Sunday s race.

Lewis Hamilton also will be in the front row at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. It s the second straight year the two will line up side-by-side.

Intermittent rain dampened the course and slowed the cars for the last two of the three qualifying sessions. The forecast on Sunday called for a low chance of rain.

Driving for Red Bull, Vettel enters the weekend with a 21-point lead over Kimi Raikkonen s Lotus.

The second qualifying session was interrupted when Felipe Massa turned sideways and skidded into the wall at Turn 3. The Brazilian banged his hands on the steering wheel before climbing out of the Ferrari.

Rookie Valtteri Bottas was third in qualifying the first time he has qualified in the front two rows. Monaco winner Nico Rosberg, who had been on the pole for the previous three races this year, was fourth, followed by Mark Webber and Fernando Alonso.

Earlier, the teams completed their third practice run, a session that was cut short to allow for the repair of a barrier that was damaged during a support race. Webber had the fastest lap in Saturday s practice, 1:17.895.
