KINGSTON (AP) - A day after a rare defeat for sprinter Usain Bolt, his father suffered another kind of loss back home in Jamaica.
Thieves broke into the pickup truck of 57-year-old Wellesley Bolt and stole more than $4,000 in cash. The elder Bolt says the theft occurred while he was shopping in Falmouth on Jamaica s north coast. He said in a brief interview Friday that the thieves also made off with bank records and other documents he had stashed under the driver s seat.
Police confirmed the theft report but said there have been no arrests.
Six-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt is in Rome for the Golden Gala meet. Bolt lost by one-hundredth of a second Thursday in the 100 meters to American sprinter Justin Gatlin.
