PLANO (AP) - Americans Josh Teater, Johnson Wagner, Scott Brown and Bud Cauley earned places at the British Open in very windy conditions Monday at the international final qualifying at the par-70 Gleneagles Country Club Queens Course.

The 34-year-old Teater shot rounds of 64 and 69 to take medalist honors and qualify for his first major championship.

There were eight spots available at this regional qualifier for the British Open, which will be held July 18-21 at Muirfield Golf Club in Scotland.

Wagner and Columbia s Camilo Villegas carded two-round totals of 134.

Brown, who won earlier this year in a PGA Tour event in Puerto Rico, and England s Brian Davis each shot 135.

There was a four-man playoff for the final three spots between Americans Cauley, Luke Guthrie, Columbia s Andres Echavarria and Sweden s Robert Karlsson, who all finished at 136.

Echavarria was eliminated with a bogey four on the first playoff hole while the others made par.

Among those who missed qualifying were former Masters champion Trevor Immelman, who carded scores of 68-73_141, and former Ryder Cup captain Davis Love III (70-72_142), who put a streak of 26 straight Open Championship appearances in danger.

"There are still some chances for me to get in the Open," Love said. "I want that streak to continue. I want to keep playing."
