LAS VEGAS (AP) - O J Simpson has begun testifying in his bid for a new trial in the Las Vegas armed robbery and kidnap case that put him in prison more than four years ago.

The 65-year-old former U.S. football star is also famous for being acquitted in a 1995 "trial of the century" over the stabbing deaths of his ex-wife and her friend.

The focus Wednesday is on his trial in a 2007 hotel room confrontation with two sports memorabilia dealers. Simpson says he got bad advice from a lawyer who Simpson now claims had conflicted interests.

Simpson never testified in the 1995 murder trial, but he did testify at a civil wrongful death trial a couple of years later.
