DENVER (AP) - The Colorado Rockies extended their perfect home-field start to the new MLB season to seven games by beating the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-2 on Friday.

 

Colorado pitcher Jhoulys Chacin pitched effectively into the seventh inning and became the first Rockies starter to throw 100 pitches in a game since June the 117-game streak was the longest by any team since records started being kept in 1988. He paid the price, leaving the game with a back strain.

 

Among other games, Wandy Rodriguez gave up only one hit in seven innings to steer Pittsburgh past Atlanta. Evan Longoria s two-run homer lifted Tampa Bay over Oakland, Yu Darvish struck out ten batters to guide Texas past Seattle, New York s Matt Harvey outpitched Stephen Strasburg in a clash of young aces as the Mets beat Washington, Andy Pettitte lasted into the eighth inning to pitch the New York Yankees past Toronto, and Philadelphia beat St. Louis in a rain-shortened game.

 

Colorado s Troy Tulowitzki hit a two-run homer and Chacin (3-0) helped himself by driving in a run with a sacrifice fly as the Rockies won their seventh in row and remained unbeaten in seven home games this season.

 

Pittsburgh s Rodriguez (2-0) allowed only a single in the fourth over his seven innings, leading the Pirates to a 6-0 win over the Atlanta Braves.

 

The result denied Atlanta pitcher Tim Hudson his 200th career victory.

 

Tampa Bay s Ben Zobrist had a pair of RBI singles to complement Longoria s two-run shot, powering the Rays to an 8-3 victory over the Oakland Athletics.

 

The Rays scored four times in the bottom of the first inning.

 

Texas  Darvish (3-1) allowing held Seattle scoreless and recorded the 10th career 10-strikeout game as he led the Rangers to a 7-0 win over the Mariners.

 

Texas had a six-run fifth inning, scoring twice as many runs as they had in any inning this year. The seven runs overall matched their season high.

 

New York s Harvey (4-0) gave up only one run in seven innings to help the Mets down the Washington Nationals 7-1.
Strasburg (1-3) gave up two homers in the sixth inning the first time in his career he d been tagged twice in one inning. He allowed four runs in six innings.

 

New York Yankees veteran Pettitte (3-0) looked to have benefited from a 10-day break to rest back spasms, striking out four in a row at one point as the Yankees beat the Toronto Blue Jays 9-4.

 

Travis Hafner homered and had two RBIs for the Yankees.

 

Philadelphia starter Roy Halladay gave up only two hits in seven innings as the Phillies beat the St. Louis Cardinals 8-2 in a rain-shortened seven-inning game to snap a four-game losing streak.

 

Halladay (2-2) struck out six to record a complete game. He s had consecutive strong outings after starting the season with two poor ones.

San Francisco s Angel Pagan lined a game-ending double with one out in the ninth inning, as the Giants returned from a rough road trip to beat the San Diego Padres 3-2.

 

Los Angeles  Peter Bourjos had three hits and three RBIs, while Mike Trout and Albert Pujols drove in two runs apiece as the Angels slowed the worst start in franchise history with an 8-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers.

 

Miami s Justin Ruggiano hit a solo homer off Aroldis Chapman in the ninth inning, sending the Marlins to a 2-1 victory that snapped the Cincinnati Reds  winning streak at four games.

 

Milwaukee s Ryan Braun hit a three-run homer to power the Milwaukee Brewers to a 5-4 win over the Chicago Cubs.
Houston s J.D. Martinez and Rick Ankiel hit back-to-back homers in the second inning and the Astros held on for a 3-2 win over the Cleveland Indians.
