AUGUSTA (AFP) - Adam Scott of Australia won the 77th Masters at Augusta National on Sunday, winning a playoff against Angel Cabrera of Argentina.
Scott won at the second playoff hole with a 10-foot birdie. They both parred the first playoff hole.
The 32-year-old Scott, the first Australian to win the Masters, shot 69 and Cabrera 70 as they both finished with nine under par totals of 279.
Third place went to Jason Day of Australia two strokes back after a closing 70, with Tiger Woods (70) of the United States and Marc Leishman of Australia (72) in a tie for fourth place on five under.
Denmark s Thorbjorn Olesen (68) and Brandt Snedeker (75) of the United States shared sixth a further stroke back.
Scott had started the final round a shot behind joint leaders Cabrera and Snedeker.
It was a first major win for Scott and brought an end to a jinx that saw Australians eight times finish runner-up at Augusta National.
