SYDNEY (AP) - Prop Aaron Woods scored a pair of second-half tries Sunday to lead the Wests Tigers to a 28-18 win over the Penrith Panthers in Australia's National Rugby League.

Earlier, the Gold Coast Titans celebrated their 150th NRL match with a record-breaking 36-0 win over Canberra. Playing in hot and humid conditions which forced the activation of the NRL's heat rule a drinks break after 20 minutes in each half
the Titans scored six unanswered tries. The victory margin was the biggest in the Titans' history, eclipsing their 38-12 win over Parramatta in 2007.

Manly played Newcastle later Sunday, while South Sydney takes on Cronulla in the Monday night match to conclude the round.

On Saturday, Sonny Bill Williams returned to Eden Park in Auckland for the first time since leading the All Blacks to the Rugby World Cup in October 2011, attracting a crowd of 32,740 to see him back in rugby league. His Sydney Roosters beat the New Zealand Warriors 16-14.

Williams had 11 carries for 89 meters, 20 tackles and two offloads.

"I didn't hesitate to leave him out there for 80 minutes," Roosters coach Trent Robinson said. "He had to do a lot of hard work. He defended really well and he had some tough carries. He doesn't shirk the work. I had a lot of faith in him."

Halfback Cooper Cronk led the Melbourne Storm to a 32-10 win over North Queensland, setting up five of Melbourne's six tries, scoring two himself, as well as making a try-saving tackle as the Cowboys staged a second-half comeback.

Cowboys coach Neil Henry said his team had been given a "lesson in footy" by the defending champions.

"It was a lesson in patience and a bit of execution at that end of the field," Henry said. "Also in scrambling defense and being desperate on your own line and they (Melbourne) probably saved four or five tries."

David Stagg's try with 16 minutes remaining clinched a 22-6 win by the Brisbane Broncos over St. George Illawarra. Last week the Broncos blew a halftime lead to Manly, and coach Anthony Griffin said his side had laid down in the second half. There were no such complaints after the Friday night win.

"One thing we showed tonight was a heap of courage and character and belief," Griffin said.

On Thursday, Canterbury beat Parramatta 20-16.
