Star batsman Muhammad Yousaf has been appointed caption of the national cricket team for test series against New Zealand while Kamran Akmal would be the vice captain. Pakistan Cricket Board has formally announced to appoint Muhammad Yousaf as new captain of the team while replacing Younas Khan due to unsatisfactory performance in the one-day series against New Zealand. Some senior players proposed to replace Younas Khan from captaincy after the series in Abu Dhabi. This proposal came into surface in a meeting after the second match. PCB chairman Ijaz Butt is also in Dunai nowadays where he appointed Younas Khan as captain after consultation with team management. Kamran Akmal has been made vice captain of the team for the first time. Before him, Misbahul Haq was the vice captain of test team but he was dropped from the squad. Pakistan will play its first test match against New Zealand from November 24.
