Australia defeated India by six wickets in the sixth One-Day International at the Nehru Stadium Guwahati on Sunday and won the series after taking an unbeatable 4-2 with a match to spare This is Australias second consecutive victory on Indian soil. Chasing 171, Australia made 172 for four in 41.5 overs after Shane Watson top scored with 49 and Mike Hussey made 35 not out. Harbhajan Singh was the picked of the Indian bowlers finishing with 2/23 from his 10 overs. Earlier, India were dismissed for 170 in 48 overs after winning the toss and batting first. The host were struggling at 27/5 but fighting half centuries from Ravinder Jadeja (57) and Parveen Kumar (54*) save India the blushes. Doug Bollinger (5/35) and Mitchell Johnson (3/39) starred for the visitors putting India firmly on the mat early on and the host never recovered from the disastrous start. Jadeja, after having had to bear a lot of criticisms, responded with a patient half-century that included five hits to the fence. Ravindra Jadeja and Praveen Kumar added 74 vital runs for the eighth wicket to help India avoid the blushes after they were reeling at 75 for 7 in the 31st over.Man-of-the-match Bollinger, who followed his impressive spell at Mohali with another spectacular four-wicket haul and finished with career best figures of 5/35. Shane Watson clean up the tail and finished with 2/27. Seventh and the last match of the series ill be played in Mumbai on November 11.
