Summary Preparations for Punjab Youth Festival under auspices of Punjab govts sponsorship have finalised.
Registration forms for the event beginning on August 26, 2012 have already been dispatched to various participating union councils, as a part of first phase of the event; while those wishing to participate at Tehsil level would be able to get their forms from Tehsil municipal office.The event would include competitions in such games like cricket, volley ball, rope tugging (tug-a-war), Naat renderings (holy script recitations) and Quran recitations.The event would be participated by 3,464 union councils, 137 tehsils, 36 districts and 9 divisions.Rawalpindi would be hosting sportsmen from Tehsils of Murree, Taxila, Rawalpindi and Gujar Khan, while at the initial phase competitions would be held at Mohalla (street) level.While individuals would be allowed to compete in such (individual routine) events as pet animals’ competitions, cooking, gardening, poetic gatherings, photography, Quran recitations, National songs, etc.General public/families would be allowed to compete in events related to cooking, family dressing, embroidery, and photography.Sports’ competition for general public would entail athletics, badminton, basket ball, billiard, snooker, chess, cricket, tap ball, football, rope tugging (tug-a-war) and volley ball.A total of 36 events would be hosted carrying prizes/awards worth Rs.93, 200 and DCO/Tehsil officer have been intimated directives regarding the event.MPA Raja Hanif has been appointed as district coordinator for the event.
