Australian Rules football will return to England for the first time in six years when the Western Bulldogs play Port Adelaide in an exhibition match in November.The Australian Football League said Friday that the match, to be played at The Oval on Nov. 3, will be the first AFL game in London since Port Adelaide played Geelong in 2006.Andrew Dillon, the AFLs general manager of international development, said an agreement was reached overnight Thursday with the Surrey County Cricket Club, which runs The Oval.Dillon said there were 21 countries affiliated under AFL Europe with more than 4,600 players competing in regular competitions across the continent, and that the match would attract fans from a large Australian expatriate community in England.
