Nankana Sahib Dike collapses, 60 houses demolished

A 1200 ft portion of safety Dike collapsed, demolishing at least 60 houses.

Few days earlier, 18 houses of Kand Reham Shah village of Nankana Sahib were collapsed when 44000 cusecs water passed through the point. Irrigation Department started repair work of the dike but recent heavy rain fall caused the level of water rise in River Ravi due to which safety dike collapsed. Forty two more housed collapsed by the current of waters.District government has shifted more than 200 affected people to safe places. District Coordination Officer (DCO) said that new villages would be constructed and they were in constant contact with Punjab government is this regard. Ex-en Irrigation Department Aftab said that the repair work of collapsed dike will be started as soon as the water level lowers down.
