After price hike of Petroleum products, the public transport fares have also been raised. Punjab Transport Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman held a meeting with the transport owners. The transport owners agreed to end their strike and resume operation of buses in Lahore after the government succumbed to their demand for an increase in fare. Officers of Urban transport Bashir Hussain Khan and Arshad Khan Niazi were present during the meeting.The government agreed to allow the transport owners to increase the minimum bus fare from Rs10 to Rs13 and maximum from Rs25 to Rs28. It was also decided to divide every bus route into five stages. Transporters will charge Rs5 for every stage.Public have complained over the increase of fares saying that it is unfair to raise the charges.
