TDCP plans uplift of south Punjab tourist spots

DG TDCP says proposals have been sent to the provincial government for final approval.

LAHORE (Web Desk) Talking to state news agency, TDCP Managing Director Habib Ur Rahman Gilani on Friday said the Punjab government had allocated sizable funding for tourism promotion‚ however‚ each and every initiative would be executed on the basis of its importance and availability of funds.

Proposals have been sent to the provincial government for final approval‚ he added.

Gilani said the open roof bus service‚ if approved‚ would operate from The Mall and tourists would get information on historical places and structures in Lahore while enjoying the ride.

The TDCP MD said that the feasibility for a chairlift at the Fort Munro hill station had been made and work would begin when funds were released.

The thirteen spots identified for further development in south Punjab included installation of a chairlift at the Fort Munro hill station‚ establishment of a resort having water sport facilities on the bank of the Chenab on the Muzaffargarh side‚ a small resort on the bank of the Indus in Dera Ghazi Khan‚ a stopover at the Dada Fort near Girdo More‚ few kilometres from the Fort Munro hill station‚ construction of a guest house/motel over 40 Kanal and eleven Marla land recently purchased by TDCP at Kot Mithan Sharif‚ construction of tourist huts‚ a quality restaurant and facilities of a boat Safari at Head Sidhnai‚ further development of the Lal Sohanra national park in Bahawalpur and the TDCP resort in Fort Munro.

Officials have also proposed the construction of TDCP Multan office at a historical mound encircled by the Qasim Fort wall in the heart of Multan city.
