Farmers held a demonstration against the unfair price of rice and government not buying the crop in Multan. The demonstrators also symbolically burned the paddy crop in front of the press club, reported Dunya News on Tuesday. The demonstrators said that the paddy crop was being bought through PASSCO in upper Punjab but the farmers of southern Punjab were being treated as stepchildren. They claimed that the middlemen were buying rice for Rs 600 per 40 kg instead of Rs 1200 per kg.
