Summary Citizens in Islamabad protested against low pressure and gas loadshedding on Saturday.
ISLAMABAD: A large number of residents of sector G/7-2 gathered at Zero Point and chanted slogans against Sui Northern Gas Company Limited (SNGPL) management.
The protestors also blocked roads for all kinds of traffic. They were also carrying banners inscribed with slogans against the city managers and SNGPL officials.
Talking to the media, they said that low gas pressure had multiplied the miseries of domestic consumers in most parts of the city, compelling them to use alternate methods to fulfill their household chores.
”Our daily routine has also been badly affected due to the low pressure of gas especially at early morning hours and in the evening when the pressure is reduced to zero. It has become too difficult for the people to prepare food for their families,” said Shazia Khan, a housewife.
Another resident of Sohail Arshad said that they had been facing severe problem of low gas pressure for the last two weeks.
“We have registered complaints with the relevant department several times but to no avail,” he added.
Demonstrators said that loadshedding and low gas pressure is the only gift of the incumbent government, adding that people have been forced to live in Stone Age.
Assistant commissioner Islamabad arrived at the spot and assured the protestors that gas supply would be restored and their grievances would be addressed properly.
