Summary Deputy Speaker National Assembly has taken strong notice of sexual abuse of a Hindu girl in Umerkot.

ISLAMABAD: The issue was raised during the National Assembly meeting of Thursday, by PPP’s Nawab Yousaf Talpur, who while bringing the issue to notice, also complained that police had rather registered FIR against the family of the victimized girl.

He stressed that the case be forwarded to Parliament’s standing committee, while the government should also give concrete assurances that justice would be disbursed.

Speaking on the occasion, chief whip of National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah assured to look into the case personally, and assured that justice would be provided to the bereaved family.

However deputy speaker rejected to constitute a committee to probe the issue, over his concern that such committees hardly submit their reports, even after ‘months of ground work’.

“The biggest concern is that governmental departments hardly implement or endorse committee reports”, he bemoaned.
