Summary The PMA’s doctors continued their strike in Balochistan on 45th day for their demands.
QUETTA: The doctors’ continued their strike on Saturday at government and private hospitals of the province despite the recovery of Dr. Saeed; however, some of the doctors have resumed their healthcare responsibilities.
The patients coming from far-flung areas face severe problems owing to the sustained strike; however, some doctors who parted ways from Paramedical Association, are performing their duties in the emergency wards of hospitals.
The payment of ransom money for the release of Dr. Saeed, an ophthalmologist, is the justification by Pakistan Medical Association Balochistan (PMA) for their strike this time round.
The PMA Balochistan President Dr. Sultan Tareen said the doctors would continue strike until the government pays up the money given as ransom to the abductors, clarifying that the government played no role in getting the abducted doctor released.
He demanded that the killers of the doctors be arrested, cases registered against protesting doctors be quashed and those responsible for registration of cases be brought to book, adding that health secretary should be sacked.
