Rawalpindi: Misuse of loud speakers restricted in Muharram

Summary District administration says misuse of loud speakers would not be allowed during Muharram-ul-Harram.

TMAs would carry out a comprehensive operation against wall chalking and banners based on sectarian material be removed before the commencement of Muharram. All departments would make joint efforts for the peaceful passage of Muharram to maintain tranquility of general public.Cases would be registered against the speakers of different sects and zakreens who would deliver sectarian speeches to injure the sentiments of other sects under Amplifier Act and they would be arrested.These decisions were taken in the meeting of District Law & Order committee held in DCO Office, Rawalpindi which was presided over by ADC (G) Saif Anwar Jappah.CPO Azhar Hameed Khokhar briefed the meeting about the security arrangements. The meeting was also attended by ACs of Saddar, City, Murree, Kahuta, Taxila, Zahid Suhail, Qurat-ul-Aain, Tariq Manzoor Chandio, Dr. Rafique Akhter and Arif Rahim, SAO Aqeel Ahmed Khan, CTO Syed Ishtiaq Shah, officers of Rescue 1122 and Civil Defence and District Khateeb Hafiz Iqbal Rizvi.CPO Azhar Hameed Khokhar informed the meeting that every mourning procession and Majlis would be covered by the police officials for security arrangements and the security would also be provided to hospitals to avoid any clash between the followers of any sect and doctors.Duty roasters of police staff was being issued in this regard. It was decided that no one would be allowed to carry weapons in mourning processions and such elements would be dealt with iron hands.
