Summary Rehman Malik said that the Red Zone area has been extended due to security reasons.

Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik directing for enhanced security measures in the federal capital said that Red Zone area has been extended till Embassy Road immediately.He expressed these chairing a high level meeting to review law and order and security situation of the federal capital, Islamabad on Tuesday.The meeting was attended by Federal Secretary Interior, Additional Secretary, MOI, Chief Commissioner ICT, Inspector General of Police (IG), ICT, Director General National Crisis Management Cell, DIG, Security, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad and SSP (Operation) Islamabad.Overall security situation of the federal capital wwas reviewed during the meeting.Malik said that Red Zone area has been extended till Embassy Road immediately and entry to Red Zone will be allowed only to authorize persons having valid CNIC which will be verified by NADRA on the spot.He said that all visitors to National Assembly should be scrutinized and extra security should be made for the present session of the Parliament.The minister directed that all vehicles having unauthorized lights/police plates should be removed immediately. Any such vehicles can be confiscated and legal action will be taken against the driver.
