Summary MNAs protest poor funeral bus service of CDA that has only three buses and these too in bad shape.

In reply to a question regarding the poor condition of funeral bus service of CDA during the proceedings of National Assembly, Khurram Jehangir Watto Parliamentary Secretary for Cabinet Division told that there are only three buses in the service for graveyard.He further added that CDA had released funds to purchase two more vehicles for this purpose. Khurram told that there are seven graveyards in Islamabad and a new graveyard is also being prepared on a land of 118 acres which would be enough for the next 20 years.“Graveyards for all religions including Christians, Ahmedi and Ismaeli are situated in the Capital,” informed the Parliamentary Secretary.Khurram Jehangir said that around 15 to 20 people passed away daily in the city and 3 vehicles of the service could not provide the facility to all the citizens in this regard. He added that dead bodies of unknown people were also found in Islamabad and it was also the duty of CDA to perform their burial ceremonies.He informed that CDA did not receive any fee from the citizens for the funeral service.Earlier, MNA Chaudhary Barjis Tahir said that people used private vehicles to burry the dead people. He was of the view that it is necessary that CDA should provide special vehicles for this purpose and people are ready to pay fee in this connection.He remarked that buses of funeral service are not in functional condition while Chairman CDA and others officials have dozens of vehicles.MNA Baligh-ur-Rehman also expressed his sorrow over the poor condition of funeral bus service.
