Summary Angry and irritated people broke windows of a grid station over refusal for change of transformer.
According to sources, residents of Islampura requested the MEPCO employees for change of their transformer. They also held a protest demonstration in front of the office for implementation on request. Finding no positive response, angry mob started piling stones on the grid station and broke windows of the building.They also shouted slogans against the MEPCO officials and complained that their transformer was out order for two days and they were deprived of drinking water.They were of the view that their families were suffering from agonies due to scorching heat while MEPCO officials showed utmost negligence and took no step for removal of their grievance.They also warned that if their problems were not settled on priority basis, they would be bound to block the road and expand the circle of demonstration.
