Summary Chaudhry Salik Hussain responds to Marriyum Aurangzeb’s X post, saying he is still awaiting the legal notice over allegations concerning corruption in Punjab.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain has responded to Marriyum Aurangzeb's post on X, saying he is still waiting to receive the legal notice and will provide an appropriate response once it arrives.

Reacting to the Punjab information minister's remarks, Salik said it would be better to send a legal notice over the allegedly misleading claims to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's spokesperson, Kausar Kazmi.

The federal minister said he had not received any legal notice so far and was waiting for it to respond through the appropriate legal process.

“I am still waiting for the legal notice so that I can respond to it appropriately,” Salik said.

The latest exchange comes amid a dispute over Salik's allegations concerning corruption and development priorities in Punjab. The federal minister had maintained that corruption was taking place in the province, claiming that political considerations were influencing development spending and that districts such as Gujrat were being neglected.

He also denied seeking the appointment of a deputy commissioner, saying the officer concerned was already posted.

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced that she would send a damages notice to Salik over his allegations and challenged him to provide evidence or face legal action.

Speaking at the CM Honhaar Scholarships and Laptop Distribution ceremony for students of Rawalpindi Division at COMSATS University Attock, Maryam said the federal minister should substantiate his claims rather than make allegations against her administration.

She also questioned his praise for the government of former Punjab chief minister Parvez Elahi and defended her administration's officer appointments, saying they were made on merit.
