PPP candidate Waheeda Shah who slapped two presiding officers yesterday has held a news conference.

And she did so in the company of two burqa-clad women who she presented as her victims from yesterday who she said have reached a rapprochement with her.However, despite reporters’ insistence, neither of the women lifted their veils to prove identity. But the women would claim that they have family terms with Waheeda and that yesterday episode was result of misunderstanding.On the other hand, Siraj Akhtar Memon, brother of poll officer Shagufta Memon, told Dunya News that it was not his sister who was presented before the media in a veil.Waheeda slapped the two poll staff at a polling station in PS 53 Tando Muhammad Khan, and later admitted her mistake only after national TVs aired her footage. She had earlier denied any such incident perhaps being unaware that the cameras had captured her flouting the law.The Election Commission has ordered action against Waheeda for attacking the poll officers, and the news conference could well be a bid to that end.
