Summary DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry says the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement reflects three nations’ unity, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to Saudi Arabia’s security.

RAWALPIND (Dunya News) Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has called for a negotiated settlement to the ongoing Middle East conflict, stressing that diplomacy is essential to prevent further military escalation.

In an interview with an Arab television channel, the military spokesperson said that if diplomatic efforts fail and military confrontation occurs, the collective deterrence mechanism of the Makkah Alliance would come into action.

Chaudhry described the Makkah joint defence agreement as a significant development achieved in a short period, saying it reflects the shared vision of three countries.

He reaffirmed that safeguarding Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and the holy sites of Makkah and Madinah remains a top priority for Pakistan. He said Pakistan’s position on protecting the holy sites was clear and unequivocal, adding that the country’s political leadership and field marshal had already conveyed its stance.

The DG ISPR said attacks on holy sites had triggered strong anger among the public and political and military leadership. He warned that further escalation of tensions at any level would not benefit any country.

Emphasising the risks of a wider confrontation, Chaudhry said expanding the military conflict in the Middle East was not in anyone’s interest. He reiterated that reaching a negotiated outcome was imperative to prevent the situation from deteriorating further.

He also stressed that the Makkah Alliance’s leadership and approach were clearly defined, maintaining that the alliance had no aggressive intentions.

He sadPakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye share a commitment to peace, stability and prosperity in the region. He said the alliance was not directed against any particular country but was intended to promote regional peace, security and stability.

The DG ISPR called for greater unity among Muslims, saying countries in the region should work together rather than engage in conflict with one another.
