LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has urged young government officers to treat public service as a responsibility rather than merely a job, stressing that their decisions can directly affect the lives of millions of people.

Addressing officers of the Provincial Management Service (PMS) Sindh, Maryam Nawaz said the state had invested in their education, training and professional capabilities, making it their responsibility to use their skills for the service of the country and its people.

She said Pakistan had given them identity, respect and opportunities to progress, adding that she herself felt proud to have received her education in the country.

The chief minister said holding public office came with significant responsibilities and that running a government might appear easy from the outside, but was, in reality, a challenging task.

Maryam Nawaz said her focus remained on performance and practical results, emphasising the importance of decisions that benefit citizens and improve their quality of life.

She cautioned young officers against following conventional and convenient approaches to avoid their responsibilities. Merely marking attendance, signing documents or using the negligence of others as an excuse for inaction could harm the country's development, she said.

The chief minister described young officers as the future leadership of the country and urged them to use their positions as a means of serving the public.
