SWAT (Dunya News) - Three wanted terrorists were killed and two others escaped during an intelligence-based operation conducted jointly by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and district police in Swat early Thursday.

According to a CTD spokesperson, the operation was carried out in the Sakhadob area within the jurisdiction of Kanju police station.

The deceased were identified as Abdullah, son of Syed Bashar; Mansoor Ali, son of Abdul Matlub; and Ghufranullah, son of Afzal Khan. The spokesperson said they were affiliated with the group led by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander Muzaffar, alias Khalid.

National identity cards recovered from the suspects indicated that all three belonged to Swat district, officials said.

According to authorities, the suspects opened fire upon seeing the police contingent, prompting security personnel to retaliate. After the exchange of fire ended, three bodies were recovered from a house at the site.

The CTD said weapons and other items were seized during the operation, including three Kalashnikov rifles, six magazines and several rounds of ammunition. A gas cylinder, cooking utensils, a map of Shikardara police station and a diary were also recovered.

The spokesperson said the deceased militants were involved in several terrorist incidents reported this year, including firing attacks on Afzal Khan Gujar and the residence and hujra of Nemat Ali Khan, as well as the targeted killing of Saleemullah, alias Sajid, in Nilagram.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed and Additional Inspector General of the Counter Terrorism Department praised the personnel involved in the operation, commending their bravery, professionalism and dedication.

They reiterated that all available resources would be utilised to eliminate terrorism from the province and protect the lives and property of the public.
