Summary Lahore High Court orders heart medication for Dr Uzma Khan in jail and reserves its decision on summoning senior district and police officials.

LAHORE (Web Desk) - The Lahore High Court has directed jail authorities to provide heart medication to Dr Uzma Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, while reserving its decision on a request to summon the Lahore deputy commissioner, CCPO and other officials in person.

Justice Abhar Gul heard a petition challenging the detention of Dr Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi.

During the hearing, petitioners’ counsel Rana Mudassar Umar requested that the superintendent of police, Lahore CCPO and deputy commissioner be summoned in person to explain the detention notification.

The lawyer maintained that the petitioners were not seeking any extraordinary facilities in jail but merely wanted access to basic necessities. He also requested that Noreen Niazi be provided with clothes, medicines and prescription glasses, and be allowed to meet her family members and lawyer.

During the proceedings, Dr Uzma Khan’s husband, Ahad Khan, appeared at the rostrum and told the court that his wife suffered from a heart condition and needed three medicines daily. He requested permission for her medication to be delivered to the jail every day.

The court directed that Dr Uzma Khan be provided with her heart medication and reserved its decision on the request to summon the officials in person.
