Summary Foreign Office Spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan made the remarks while responding to questions during his weekly media briefing in Islamabad
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan has reaffirmed its unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia following attacks by Yemen’s Houthis on holy sites in the Kingdom, reiterating its commitment to Riyadh’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan made the remarks while responding to questions during his weekly media briefing in Islamabad.
He said Pakistan remained committed to protecting Saudi Arabia’s security in accordance with the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.
Addressing a separate question, the spokesperson rejected India’s latest attempt to rename places in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir and depict them as part of its territory on a political map.
He said no unilateral action by India could alter the internationally recognised disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir or legitimise what Pakistan describes as India’s occupation of the territory.
Khan reiterated Pakistan’s call for a settlement of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
He said the dispute should be resolved through a free, fair and impartial plebiscite under UN auspices.
On Palestine, the spokesperson called for the full implementation of the Gaza peace process and the relevant UN Security Council resolution.
He also stressed the need to protect Palestinian civilians, end settlement activities and forced displacement, and uphold the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination through an independent, sovereign and contiguous state based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
