(Web Desk) - The Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2026 concluded across Pakistan after 138,158 candidates registered for the medical and dental colleges entrance examination.
According to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), the three-hour examination started at 10am and was conducted at centres in 34 cities across the country, as well as in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Punjab recorded the highest number of registered candidates, with 49,199 students, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 38,841 and Sindh with 34,233.
Balochistan had 9,923 registered candidates, while 2,761 candidates were registered in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, 1,721 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 1,245 in Islamabad. Another 237 candidates were eligible to appear at the examination centre in Riyadh.
The PMDC said an 8,000-question bank had been prepared for MDCAT 2026. Separate question papers were prepared for each province, while at least two additional papers were also developed.
Each examination paper contained 180 questions.
The test was conducted by provincial authorities and designated universities. Candidates were required to remain seated until the examination concluded and were not permitted to leave the centres before the end of the test.
Candidates were also required to hand over their question papers to invigilating staff before leaving. The PMDC warned that failure to return a question paper could result in cancellation of the candidate’s result.
The use of mobile phones and other digital devices was prohibited at examination centres.
This year, the mandatory requirement for a juvenile card was removed. Candidates without a juvenile card were allowed to sit the examination, with their identity to be verified through the original marks sheet at the examination centre.
Candidates were advised to comply with all identification and documentation requirements to avoid any inconvenience during the examination process.
