Summary Pakistan's Polio Eradication Programme has raised frontline workers’ daily allowance by 28%. The increase will apply from the next campaign, set for Sept 21-27 across 115 districts.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Polio Eradication Programme has announced a 28 percent increase in the daily allowance paid to frontline polio workers, with the revised rate set to take effect from the next vaccination campaign.
According to the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC), the decision was made following listening sessions with frontline polio workers. The increase is intended to recognize their efforts and services in the country’s fight against polio.
Ayesha Raza Farooq, the Prime Minister’s focal person for polio eradication, said the increase in compensation was an acknowledgment of the hard work, dedication and services of polio workers.
She said frontline workers were playing a key role in efforts to make the country polio-free.
The next sub-national polio vaccination campaign will be held from September 21 to 27 across 115 districts, according to the information provided by the programme.
During the campaign, more than 31 million children will be administered polio vaccination drops as part of ongoing efforts to protect children from the disease.
