BAGH (Dunya News) - An FC soldier was martyred and a Pakistan Rangers personnel was injured after armed attackers opened indiscriminate fire at security posts in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

According to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Police, armed militants opened fire at the Koperah police post on the Chhattara Topi Road in Bagh district and at the Tarar Khel axis.

The attack resulted in the death of FC soldier Raheem Gul, while a Pakistan Rangers personnel sustained injuries.

The AJK Police spokesperson said security personnel displayed “exceptional courage and professionalism” and responded effectively to the gunfire.

During the retaliatory operation, one attacker was killed at the scene.

Police said security forces recovered two hand grenades, one Kalashnikov rifle, three magazines containing ammunition, and a dagger from the slain attacker.

Law-enforcement agencies have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to track down the attackers who fled the scene.

The AJK Police spokesperson alleged that violent elements had resorted to attacks under the guise of public rights-related activities.

The spokesperson said the authorities would take the “strictest legal action” against those involved in violent activities without discrimination and that no concessions would be given to the perpetrators.
