PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved free electric scooters for female students and working women, with Peshawar selected for the initial phase.
The approval was given at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, who instructed officials to take immediate steps to put the scheme into action.
Peshawar will be the first city covered under the programme. Officials said the initiative would later be expanded to women in other districts of the province.
Speaking at the meeting, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said the electric scooters would make commuting safer for women travelling to educational institutions and workplaces.
He said the initiative would also support efforts to reduce air pollution by encouraging cleaner modes of transportation.
