ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has refiled a contempt of court petition concerning the hospital transfer of party founder Imran Khan after addressing an objection raised by the Supreme Court Registrar’s Office.
The petition, filed by Imran Khan’s sister Uzma Khan, was initially returned after the Registrar’s Office objected that a list of allegations against the respondents accused of contempt had not been provided.
Speaking to reporters outside the Supreme Court, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan said the party had met the Supreme Court registrar at the facilitation centre and was informed about the objection.
He said the objection had now been addressed and the contempt petition had been filed again. Gohar also requested that the petition be numbered and processed at the earliest so that the same bench could hear the matter on Thursday.
“The Supreme Court’s orders must be implemented in all circumstances,” Gohar said, stressing that Imran Khan’s health and fundamental rights were of utmost importance.
He also urged the authorities to allow family members to meet the PTI founder in accordance with the court’s directions.
Later, the Supreme Court Registrar’s Office allotted a number to the petition, with Uzma Khan’s contempt plea registered as 8/2026.
The petition was filed against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Information Minister Atta Tarar and other officials over the alleged non-compliance with the Supreme Court’s August 18 order concerning Imran Khan’s medical treatment.
The plea seeks Imran Khan’s transfer to Shifa International Hospital for treatment and medical examinations.
PTI leaders Barrister Gohar Khan and Secretary-General Salman Akram Raja had also visited the Supreme Court a day earlier to seek an early hearing of the petition.

The Supreme Court, in its August 18 order, had directed authorities to transfer the former prime minister to Shifa International Hospital for a medical examination.
Instead, Khan was taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), where doctors from Shifa International Hospital were also present, according to Information Minister Attaullah Tarar.
The dispute over the hospital transfer has also led to legal action by the federal government. A day after the Supreme Court’s August 18 order, the government filed a review petition challenging the directive, but the Registrar’s Office subsequently returned it with objections.
The Islamabad chief commissioner later filed a separate application seeking an early hearing of the government’s review petition.
The PTI has criticised the decision to take Khan to PIMS instead of Shifa International Hospital, calling it a breach of the Supreme Court’s order. The government, however, has maintained that the decision was made because of security considerations.
