Summary Defence Minister Khawaja Asif questioned PTI’s “iron man” narrative over its demand for Imran Khan’s hospitalisation, while praying for his recovery.
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has questioned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) demand for the hospitalisation of its founder Imran Khan, saying the party that portrayed him as an “iron man” is now pleading for his transfer from prison to a hospital.
In a post on social media platform X on Tuesday, Khawaja Asif said PTI’s desire to secure the release of its founder from jail and obtain an “NRO” had reached new heights.
He said the celebrations by the PTI leadership over what he described as extraordinary relief granted by the judiciary to one of the party’s founders reflected its continued desire to somehow bring Imran Khan out of prison.
The defence minister said it was ironic that the same party that had portrayed its founder as an “iron man” was now seeking his transfer from jail to a hospital.

Khawaja Asif clarified that he had no objection to Imran Khan being provided immediate, effective and comprehensive medical facilities. However, he said PTI would have to explain the apparent contradictions in its political narrative.
He further described the situation as “nature’s revenge,” saying that the “mountains of arrogance” had been overtaken by the Margalla Hills.
The minister nevertheless prayed for Imran Khan’s health, asking Allah to grant the PTI founder complete recovery from his illnesses.
The remarks came as the Supreme Court directed the relevant authorities to shift Imran Khan to Islamabad’s Shifa International Hospital for a medical check-up and ordered that his family members be allowed weekly meetings with him.
