Summary Says Azad Kashmir elections will be remembered as ‘Form 47 Plus’
KARACHI (Dunya News) - Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said the results of the Azad Kashmir elections will be remembered in history as “Form 47 Plus”.
Reacting to the statements of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz, the PPP leader said that the PML-N has once again obtained a charitable mandate through historic rigging.
“People had rejected the PML-N in 2024 and now in 2026 AJK elections. A government can be formed through a fake mandate, but it cannot gain popularity and genuine public support.
“Before complaining to the PPP, Nawaz Sharif should also see how the political situation in Azad Kashmir developed.
PPP has always respected democratic principles, public mandate and political tolerance. If questions arise about irregularities in the elections, it is our democratic right to raise our voice,” the Sindh senior minister said.
PPP does not want, nor has it ever wanted, any hostility from any political party. In the name of democracy, rigging or influencing the public mandate cannot be accepted, he remarked.
Sharjeel Memon said that political opposition should not turn into hostility, the PPP still stands on this principle, and all political parties and governments must adopt this principle of the Pakistan Peoples Party.
He said if serious questions arise about an electoral process, they should be resolved in a transparent and impartial manner. It is not correct for Maryam Nawaz to compare the elections in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.
The senior Sindh minister said that while the PPP recognised the mandate of the people, it also expressed its position on reservations regarding the electoral process. Reservations are part of democratic politics and cannot be ignored by simply accusing it of rigging.
Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the PPP always spoke about the rights of all units of the federation, the strength of democratic institutions and the sanctity of the vote.
