LAHORE (Dunya News) – People of Pakistan are marking 79th Independence Day with national fervour and jubilations, displaying fireworks, waving national flags, distributing sweets, exchanging congratulations and holding rallies.

Cities of Pakistan witnessed fireworks as part of independence celebrations. In Islamabad at midnight jubilant crowds poured into streets across the country to mark the 79th anniversary of independence, waving national flags and chanting “Long Live Pakistan.”

In Islamabad, crowds gathered along major roads as fireworks illuminated the night sky.

In Lahore, important buildings in all cities, big and small, were decorated, Lahore was adorned with the colors of Independence Day, Minar-e-Pakistan was decorated with green, a mega musical concert was held at Liberty Chowk, and a magnificent light and projection show was held at Town Hall Lahore.

The Pakistan Central Muslim League, Lahore, took out a torch-bearing freedom caravan on Mall Road, with slogans of "Pakistan Zindabad" echoing everywhere.

Fireworks were displayed at Port Grand in Karachi, fireworks were displayed at Qayyum Sports Complex in Peshawar, fireworks were set off at Ghanta Ghar Chowk in Multan, and young people took to the streets carrying national flags and banners.

The nation was filled with patriotic fervour, the entire country was painted in green and white, the spring of green crescent flags came from every city, the streets, highways, and intersections were decorated with electric lights, and the splendor of highways and important places increased.
