LAHORE (Dunya News) – Following the martyrdom of two policemen in a gun attack in Badami Bagh area here on Thursday, Lahore DIG Operations Faisal Kamran has ordered policemen to remain alert and keep weapons with them to avert any further attack by alleged target killers, saying police personnel can take unauthorised action in plainclothes or uniforms in this unprecedented situation.
In an audio message, the DIG said all police officers must have weapons.
“There have been two attacks on police in Lahore. Police personnel must be fully prepared for their own safety,” the audio message said, adding if a police officer does not have a government-issued pistol, he must have a private weapon.
The DIG Operations directed that if there is any further attack on the police in the city, the police personnel should take immediate action.
According to the audio message, police personnel can take unauthorised action in plainclothes or police uniforms.
He said in the current situation, there will be no inquiry into any action. All cops must have weapons and there is no provision for a licence to possess weapons.
According to the audio message, these instructions will remain in effect until further notice.
