Summary Punjab orders schools to complete cleaning, security and other essential arrangements before reopening after summer vacation.
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab’s School Education Department has directed public and private schools to complete cleaning, security and other necessary arrangements before reopening after the summer vacation.
The department has ordered special cleaning arrangements at all public and private schools, including cleaning of rooftops, water tanks and drainage systems.
In view of the monsoon season, schools have been directed to immediately remove stagnant water and potential dengue breeding sites. Barriers must also be installed around areas where construction or repair work is underway to prevent students from accessing them.
The Department has also instructed schools to thoroughly inspect fans, lights, switches, sockets and electrical wiring before reopening. Schools have further been directed to ensure the availability of clean drinking water and functional washrooms.
A Plus and A-category schools have been instructed to strictly implement security SOPs. CCTV cameras and other security equipment must be made operational before schools reopen.
The department has also directed schools to display the School Education Department’s helpline number, 1321, at prominent locations.
Before the start of the new academic year, all schools have been ordered to complete lesson plans and schemes of studies. Heads of institutions have also been instructed to conduct final inspections before reopening.
The Department has decided to complete physical inspections of all schools. District Education Officers, Deputy District Education Officers, Assistant Education Officers and Monitoring and Evaluation Assistants have been assigned responsibility for inspecting schools.
Schools have been directed to take immediate corrective measures if any shortcomings are identified during inspections. All Chief Executive Officers have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the issued directions.
According to the Education Department, no negligence or delay in completing preparations before schools reopen will be tolerated. Compliance with all instructions related to the reopening of schools has been declared a top priority.
