Summary Arrest of two election commission officials with polling bags

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah has demanded that elections in Kotli LA-10 should be postponed after two AJK election commission officials were suspended and arrested for going to a private residence with polling bags in the constituency.

Rana Sanaullah demanded the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir and the Chief Election Commissioner hold inquiry against accused Saqlain and Qaiser Patwari for alleged rigging, and the elections in Kotli LA-10 should be stopped until the inquiry was completed.

He said it should first be found out where the polling bags were being taken, adding Chaudhry Yasin was also the president of Azad Kashmir PPP.

“This incident of being caught red-handed is shameful and highly condemnable. Sending presiding officers in a government vehicle is a question of transparency. Patwari and the presiding officer are subordinate to the Azad Kashmir government.

Investigations should also be conducted in rural areas. the activities of Qaiser Patwari should be thoroughly investigated, and the results of LA-10 will not be accepted until the facts are revealed,” the PML-N leader demanded.

We want transparent, free and impartial elections, polling bags should be checked at every polling station, Rana Sanaullah demanded.

It should be noted that in Azad Kashmir, two presiding officers had gone to a private residence instead of a polling station, upon which the returning officer immediately took custody of the polling bags. Both presiding officers have been suspended and arrested.
