LAHORE (Dunya News) – On the occasion of Accession to Pakistan Day, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions is essential for protecting the rights of the Kashmiri people and ensuring lasting peace in the region.
Maryam Nawaz said the resolution adopted by the people of Jammu and Kashmir on July 19, 1947, in favour of accession to Pakistan reflected the longstanding aspirations of the Kashmiri people and demonstrated their enduring bond with Pakistan.

She said the government and people of Pakistan would continue extending diplomatic, political and moral support to the Kashmiri people, adding that Pakistan would continue raising the issue of the Kashmiris' right to self-determination at international forums.
The chief minister said the people of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir have been waiting for decades to exercise their right to self-determination. She paid tribute to their struggle, sacrifices and unwavering resilience, expressing hope that the people of Jammu and Kashmir would one day be able to determine their own future.
