Summary CM Bugti has said negligence in protecting lives and property of people will not be tolerated
QUETTA (Dunya News) - Ziarat SP has been suspended after the Mangi Dam terrorist attack, Dunya News reported here on Tuesday.
Sources said the SP was suspended on the orders of Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, adding a high-level inquiry committee headed by Chairman CMIT was formed to investigate the incident.
According to a notification issued by the Balochistan Home Department, the committee will include Secretary S&GAD, Senior DIG Police and representatives of the Intelligence Bureau. The committee will conduct a detailed review of all the incidents, security arrangements and response before, during and after the terrorist attack.
The notification said that the committee will also review the preparedness, command and control, mutual coordination and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of security agencies. In case of negligence, omission, operational shortcomings or determination of responsibility, action will be recommended against the officers and personnel concerned.
According to Assistant Chief Minister Balochistan Shahid Rind, the inquiry committee will recommend immediate, medium and long-term security measures to protect the Mangi Dam and other important facilities in the province, while also presenting policy, institutional and operational reforms to prevent such incidents in the future.
The notification also stated that the committee has been given full powers to call for records, summon relevant officers, record witness statements, inspect the scene of the incident and seek the services of experts. The committee should submit its report to the Balochistan government within 15 days.
Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has said negligence or incompetence in protecting the lives and property of the people will not be tolerated under any circumstances and action will be taken against those responsible according to the law.
