Summary Balochistan prohibits corporal punishment in public and private schools, introducing complaint registers and disciplinary action for violations statewide.
QUETTA (Dunya News) – The Balochistan Education Department has imposed a complete ban on corporal punishment in all public and private educational institutions across the province, issuing an official notification to enforce the directive.
Under the new policy, teachers are prohibited from slapping students or using sticks or any other objects to inflict physical punishment. Humiliating, threatening or subjecting students to mental abuse will also be treated as punishable misconduct.
The department has instructed schools to maintain discipline through positive, non-violent and student-friendly approaches instead of physical punishment. Teachers have also been directed to adopt respectful and constructive behavior toward students.
According to the notification, every complaint related to corporal punishment will be investigated promptly, with findings submitted to the relevant district education officer.
The Education Department has also ordered all schools in Balochistan to maintain complaint registers for reporting incidents. In addition, awareness sessions on children's rights will be organized for teachers, parents and students.
The notification warns that strict departmental action will be taken against teachers and other responsible officials found violating the ban.
