LAHORE (Dunya News) – A resolution condemning the deadly Lahore tuition centre tragedy has been submitted in the Punjab Assembly, calling for immediate support for the victims' families and stricter safety regulations for educational institutions.

The resolution was tabled by Salma Saeed, a member of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and expressed profound grief over the deaths of 14 children in the incident.

It also prayed for the departed souls, wished a speedy recovery for the injured children, and expressed solidarity with the bereaved families.

The resolution urged the Punjab government to immediately announce a martyrs' compensation package for the families of the deceased and ensure the injured children receive the best possible medical treatment free of cost.

Describing the tragedy as a serious reflection of shortcomings in administrative oversight, the resolution called for an emergency safety audit of schools, colleges, and tuition centres across Punjab.

It further demanded mandatory fitness inspections of tuition centres operating in residential neighbourhoods, compulsory registration of all private tuition centres and academies, and new legislation to ensure regular infrastructure and safety inspections.

The proposed measures aim to strengthen oversight of private educational institutions and help prevent similar tragedies in the future.
