A four-story under construction building collapsed in Liaquatabad Number 6 on Tuesday, leaving twelve dead, three injured and many others trapped in the debris of the building. According to sources, four corpses and three injured have been recovered from the rubble. Rescue and relief activities have been started with the help of local residents, an eye-witness said. Police and ambulances have reached the site of the incident. Residents of the area said that substandard material was used for the construction of the building and Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA) has been informed many times about it. Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad has taken strict notice of the incident and directed the official concerns for probe into the incident and for launching immediate relief activities. Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah has also taken the notice and sought report from the Chief Controller Buildings in this respect.
