Summary Lahore traffic police found 1,743 vehicles and Rs2.8 million in unpaid e-challans registered under one man’s name, prompting a detailed investigation.
LAHORE (Web Desk) – Traffic police in Lahore have uncovered an unusual case involving a citizen allegedly linked to more than 1,700 registered vehicles and millions of rupees in unpaid e-challans.
The startling revelation surfaced during a general checking operation in Muslim Town, where traffic officials inspected a motorcycle and discovered that its registered owner, Muhammad Jamshed, had an exceptionally large number of vehicles registered under his name.
According to traffic police, further scrutiny revealed that a total of 1,743 motorcycles, rickshaws and other vehicles were registered to Muhammad Jamshed.
Investigators also found 2,295 outstanding e-challans linked to his name, carrying a combined penalty of Rs2.825 million.
Abdul Rahim Shirazi, Chief Traffic Officer Lahore, said the registration of such a large number of vehicles under a single individual is highly unusual and warrants a detailed investigation.
Police said preliminary findings suggest Muhammad Jamshed is involved in the business of selling motorcycles, rickshaws and vehicles on installment plans, which may explain the large number of registrations.
Authorities have contacted relevant departments, including the Safe Cities Authority and the Excise Department, to conduct further verification and determine whether any regulatory violations occurred.
